After black is black, Cahors is Back (June 08, 2010)
Clark Wine Center is pleased to relay interesting news and articles about wine to you on this web site. We hope that this will enhance your wine shopping experience when you visit this wine shop in Pampanga Clark Freeport Zone.
Wines of Cahors is back: that was the message relayed from the International Malbec Days (21 to 23 May 2010), to a cohort of wine journalists and VIPs from all over the world. A small wine appellation (almost 4500 hectares in AOC) in the South-West of France, Cahors is riding on the back of the vogue for Malbec and is particularly resting on the popularity of Argentinian wine to maintain its resurgence. “The current trend for Argentine Malbec wine is benefitting our appellation”, as representatives of the Union Interprofessionelle des Vins de Cahors (UIVC) are unanimous in pointing out. The UIVC envisage a great potential for export and are using all their wherewithal to achieve it. For evidence of this, see the organization of the Malbec Academy, the 2nd International Cahors Days (during which North American bloggers* and the Chinese, amongst others, had a considerable presence) and Vinexpo Hong Kong (where they claim to have been the only wine professionals organization of the Midi-Pyrénées present in 2010).
Cahors wine essentials: AOC Cahors dates from 1971, 100% of wine production comes from red wine, and 70% of the grapes used must be Cot Noir (Malbec).
