Capitol to get major facelift
March 9, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Plans for the full development of the capitol grounds is in the works, including the construction of additional buildings that would house all existing offices of the Capitol that are dispersed in different offices across this city.
The Provincial Government of Pampanga has already started preliminary meetings with government offices occupying the Capitol grounds for developing the land and streamlining lease agreements.
Vice Governor Joseller Guiao said the move is part of the Capitol’s plan to further evaluate the status of occupancy of various government departments with offices at the Capitol grounds.
“The meeting is part of our plan to create a uniform lease agreement for government offices here,” Guiao said, stressing that a technical working group and committee will be studying the current status of the occupants.
The Capitol grounds is currently populated by buildings occupied by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Agriculture, National Bureau of Investigation, Civil Service Commission, Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Coopbank, among others.
The Provincial Board had instructed the government agencies to submit all existing agreements with the Provincial Government on the status of their occupancy at the Capitol grounds.
Representatives of the government agencies aired that they should be included in the planning in order to air the status of their properties, particularly the building improvements of the lands under lease.
First District Board Member Tarcicio Halili said the inputs of the government agencies will be well taken into account in the technical working group that will meet sometime next week.
“This development aims to maximize the use of the Capitol grounds for our department office and promote a more harmonious relationship with the government agencies occupying lands here,” Halili said.
The technical working group will also be discussing the status of illegal private structures along the property of the Capitol.
