MWD newsletter bags best publication award

MABALACAT — The Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) has bestowed the best publication award to “Danum Agus Ning Bie,” the official newsletter of the Mabalacat Water District (MWD).
MWD general manager Francis Dimaliwat, together with other officials of the water district, received the award (2nd place, national level) from PAWD officers during the 32nd PAWD convention held in Davao City last February 9 to 11.
The MWD newsletter was adjudged first place in the best publication for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, the paper was again awarded 4th place best publication.
MWD chairman Diosdado Pangilinan said the publication has become a tool in making the water district transparent.
“These awards belong to our consumers and I am very proud of our staff for the job well done. We will try to improve the paper in the near future in terms of size, style, and format,” Pangilinan said.
The MWD Public Information and Awareness Committee (PIAC), which is under Dimaliwat’s office, established the newsletter in 2005 in a bid to raise public awareness among the concessionaires on the vital role of the water district, which is to provide safe, affordable and potable water.
Through the newsletter, a quarterly publication, people get to know the water system’s different aspects of operation including water production, billings, payment of accounts, expansion projects, community projects, and others.
On December 1, 2010, the MWD was awarded by the PAWD as the Top Water District Performer in the Large category. For being the top water district for three consecutive years, the MWD is now cited as a hall of famer.(Reynaldo G. Navales)
