Folks cite school for free education

CANDABA – Local folks here cited a private institution for providing free education to pre-elementary students.
According to Marivic De Leon, 36, resident of Barangay San Agustin and mother of one the graduates, the Catalig Mini School provided an educational opportunity for the poor and underprivileged families who cannot afford the high cost of tuition fees in other private schools.
“Malaki pong tulong sa aming mga magulang ang ginawang ito ng mga taong nasa likod ng Catalig Mini School. Kung dati ay sa daycare lamang namin ipinapasok ang aming anak para matutong magbilang at magsulat ng pangalan, ngayon ay dito na, libre na maganda pa ang turo,” De Leon said.
Catalig Mini School is a private pre-elementary school located in Barangay San Agustin here. It started as early 2008 and has been able to cater to several hundreds of children in this barangay.
The Catalig Mini School is a brainchild of the Catalig family through the efforts of Engr. Feliciano Catalig and other family members.
Aside from the free pre-elementary education, the said school also provides free school supplies and uniforms to the students.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa pamilya Catalig dahil maraming mahihirap na kabarangay ang nakikinabang sa kanilang proyekto. Masasabi nating sila mismo ang nagpapa-aral sa aming mga anak. Napakaswerte talaga po namin at may mga taong tulad ninyo na may malasakit sa aming mga anak. Sana lalo kayong bigyan ng maraming biyaya,” Amalia Manalastas, another parent whose daughter is also a graduate at the mini school, said.
It was learned that the school funds came from the personal contributions of the members of the Catalig Family who are working abroad, as well as from other friends of the family.
