About Burgundy Wine in Philippines

Argentina enjoys the status of being South America’s #1 wine producing country, with production numbers that rival the U.S. They are also the fifth largest wine producing country in the world, crafting quality, flavorful wines that fit virtually any budget. However, the vast majority of the wine is kept in country with only about 10-15% being exported for the rest of the world to enjoy. Argentina’s export volume is growing every year as both interest and subsequent demand increases. The mighty Malbec is driving the vast majority of Argentina’s consumer affection.

Mendoza, bordering Chile on the west side, is Argentina’s largest and most well-known growing region, followed by San Juan for both vineyard acres and production volume. Argentina boasts very dynamic-growing conditions with good soil, a wide range of vineyard elevations and accomodating sunlight and temperatures. Similiar to European wines, the region’s unique districts are often what appear on the bottle label. So, it’s worth knowing several of Mendoza’s top districts for label reference. Several of the Mendoza wine districts to know include: Maipu, Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley. Argentina has not had to deal with a phylloxera threat and enjoys the luxury of hosting some very old vines.
