Bizmen want town business council formed

MAGALANG – Businessmen in this town are now organizing themselves into a localized business council under the wing of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham).
Local businessman Roger Santos, a member of PamCham and owner of a couple of business establishments in Angeles City, said the move is in response to the call of PamCham president Jim Jimenez for the establishment of local town business councils that will serve the needs of local businesses through the help of PamCham.
Santos said the council is essential in providing a clearer voice for the town’s business community, in terms of making their needs heard among government officials and other sectors.
He added that with PamCham’s help, the soon-to-be established Magalang Business Council will be able to address the eccentricities and the diverse needs of local business in various barangays here.
“We also hope to bring about a more vibrant business atmosphere here in Magalang and spur the development of more micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this boarder town. Magalang has so much potential and these potentials should be exploited to the best interest of the community, the people and businesses here,” Santos said.
Santos added that some 20 businessmen here have initially met for the preliminary dialogues for the business council.
He said they are coordinating with PamCham for the full establishment of the council and have been creating a well-rounded program of events and activities for its first year of operation.
“The establishment of a business council here will create a ripple effect among other towns who would like to bring the standing of their business communities into a whole new level. The businesses in various towns here should be ready to take the challenge of better development through networking and mutual cooperation,” Santos added.
Santos said they will be conducting finalization meetings in the coming weeks. Other businessmen from Magalang or people with business in this town are encouraged to join the soon-to-be established group.
