Board member distributes PhilHealth cards

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Fourth district Board Member Nestor Tolentino distributed Saturday some 1,054 Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) cards as part of his health assistance program supported by the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
Tolentino personally distributed the cards at the Provincial Board Session Hall to senior citizens and barangay government employees.
According to the lawmaker, the beneficiaries hail from the towns of Macabebe, Masantol and Minalin towns.
“These are the initial beneficiaries, but we’re also targeting the other towns of the district in the coming days. The health cards will be of great help to these people who could barely afford good health coverage,” Tolentino said.
The beneficiaries are mostly Public Employment Service Office (Peso), hospital employees, people with disabilities, barangay health workers, daycare workers, senior citizens and Bantay Bayan members.
Tolentino was initially the main sponsor of the enabling ordinance that brought about the PhilHealth coverage of the said beneficiaries.
He said enrolling indigents to PhilHealth without the need for them to pay any amount would greatly help them once they need medical care.
With the PhilHealth ID cards, the indigent families may now avail themselves of medical care benefits ranging from allowances for hospital room and board fees, drugs and medicines, x-ray and other laboratory procedures as well as allowances for the professional fees of attending physicians.
Apart from these inpatient benefits, the cards also entitle them to outpatient diagnostic benefits from designated accredited health centers in the district.
