Capitol holds 6-day agro-industrial trade fair

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda led the ribbon-cutting ceremonies in Monday’s opening of the agro-industrial trade fair, one of the highlights of the province’s ongoing 439th founding anniversary.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Assistant Secretary Angel Pelayo and Provincial Director Leonila Baluyut also joined the governor in the said ceremonies which signaled the start of the six-day agro-industrial trade fair at the Capitol’s Arnedo Park.
After the opening ceremonies, the governor, together with the guests, Provincial Board members and department heads of the provincial government, toured the various stalls which feature native delicacies and products of various small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in various towns of the province.
At one stall, the governor tasted the delicious “duman,” to the delight of guests and visitors who attended the opening ceremonies of the trade fair.
Board Member Nestor Tolentino, chairman of this year’s agro-industrial fair, said that the event is a joint collaboration of the Provincial Government, DTI, Departments of Science and Technology, Interior and Local Government, Agriculture, Agrarian Reform and the Philippine National Police-Pampanga Provincial Office.
Tolentino also acknowledged the active participation of various SMES in the province, ensuring the success of the said event.
The Apung Monica de Minalin Multi-Purpose Cooperative with its processed meat products and mineral water; Sweets and Delicacies Association of Pampanga which include products of NeriMar’s, Lailen’s, Emy’s and Navarro’s; K Anne’s, Wow and Araro products and cookies’ Remzor’s organic products and delicacies; Minalin Poultry Cooperative’s fresh eggs, Edelyn’s peanuts and tilapia produce; and Betis meat products are among the participating SMES in the trade fair.
Other native products and produce on sale at the trade fair include the fruits and vegetables harvested by indigenous peoples from Candaba town; herbal oil and healthy nutritious products of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program beneficiaries; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; and fruit tree seedlings of Wilson Tree Bank.
Christmas lanterns, decorative pillows, handmade bags and footwear, aluminum and kitchen wares, garden tools, nursery furniture, pottery, handicrafts including paintings and accessories, fabric softener and dishwashing liquid and other products of participating SMEs are also featured in the said trade fair.
Last Monday’s opening event, according to one of the stall managers, was a good day for business as the governor and her guests bought some of their native products. She added that she hopes that more buyers come and visit the trade fair and buy their wares, which will be on display till December 11.
Lydia Rivera of DTI said that they are inviting all government employees, non-government organizations and private individuals to come and visit the agro-industrial trade fair and take advantage of the reasonably priced but quality produce and products of fellow Kapampangans. (PR)
Furniture group launches furniture show

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The members of the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP) launched a furniture show at SM Pampanga, Tuesday.
Remigio Lastimoso, CFIP Pampanga Chapter president, said the furniture show was held in support of the Provincial Government’s desire to maximize the full potential of the furniture industry in the province. It was also made part of the 439th Pampanga Day celebration.
Lastimoso revealed that the CFIP Pampanga chapter is composed of 55 companies, his company, Country Accents, being one of them.
Governor Lilia Pineda, together with some provincial officials, was warmly welcomed by CFIP members as she graced the show and led the ribbon-cutting rites.
Among others who participated in the show were A. Garcia Crafts, Betis Crafts, Inc., Venzon Manufacturing Corp., Asia Ceramics Corp., Azcor Lighting Systems, Inc. and JB woodcraft.
It can be recalled that Pineda earlier vowed to help boost the multi-billion local and export furniture industry in the province.
The governor opined that the furniture industry is one of the keys in generating additional jobs and employment for Kapampangans which in effect will strengthen the local economy.
It can also be noted that Pampanga is known for its world-class and beautifully crafted furniture.
The CFIP is likewise conducting design competitions among local schools, technical and vocational schools, in particular, to give young students early exposure to commercial furniture designing.
Sun.Star Pampanga also learned that the furniture industry in the province alone is a multi-billion business covering machineries, production and properties. (Herbert P. Mapiles)

Getting to the Clark Wine Center wine shop from Manila is quite simple: after entering Clark Freeport from Dau and Angeles City, proceed straight along the main highway M A Roxas. Clark Wine Center is the stand-along white building on the right, at the corner A Bonifacio Ave. From the Clark International Airport DMIA, ask the taxi to drive towards the entrance of Clark going to Angeles City.
