Capitol job fair a big success\

Friday, December 10, 2010

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The job fair sponsored by the province in line with the 439th Pampanga Day celebration was a success, as evidenced by the number of job seekers who trooped to the Capitol for both local and foreign employment.

Ten job applicants were hired on the spot. Six of these will start working for Qatar-based Voltas Limited while four will be deployed by Camox Philippines Inc. to Dubai and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This piece of good news was relayed by Luningning Vergara, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Employment and Services Office (Peso), and Roberto Taclas, a representative of the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration (POEA).

Voltas Limited and Camox Philippines are among the 12 foreign companies who participated in the job fair together with 32 other local employers, Vergara said.

She added that the job fair is one of the priority thrusts of Governor Lilia Pineda.

Chaired by Provincial Board Member Tars Halili, with Alex Inza-Cruz of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) as co-chair, the job fair is one of the highlights of the ongoing celebration of Pampanga’s 439th founding anniversary, whose theme this year is “Lugud at Masabal: Pusu ning Tune Kapampangan.”

The six new hires for Voltas Limited will work as building electrician, plumber, pipe fitter and duct man in Doha, Qatar.

The successful applicants — who hail from the towns of Candaba, Arayat, Mabalacat, Lubao and San Luis — will undergo medical examinations at the soonest possible time and will submit the necessary requirements and documents for their immediate deployment abroad.

Meanwhile, the four applicants who passed the screening of Camox Philippines Inc. will soon be employed as cook, safety officer, pizza maker and sales engineer with Aramco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

Vergara attributed the job fair’s success to the pre-screening of applicants by the respective Peso managers in various municipalities of the province.

In addition, the Provincial Government, headed by Pineda and her officials, provided their full support and commitment to ensure the success of the activity, Taclas said.

He added that the job fair was well organized because the Peso managers in the province are very much supportive and committed to the programs of the Pineda administration.

“The job fair is one effective way of bringing the services of the government directly to the constituents,” he said.

The job fair also provided allied services of four partner agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, the Social Security System and the National Statistics Office.

“It was a complete one-stop shop,” Vergara said. (Pampanga PIO)
