City police bag 2 hold-up men

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Two suspected robbers were arrested by the city police after a hot pursuit operation along McArthur Highway in Barangay Dolores here the other day.

Police identified the suspects as Korsine Angeles Lopez, 32; and Joel Mendoza Esguerra, 21; both of Morning Sun Subdivision in Barangay Dolores, this city.

Their victim was identified as Rey Zapata Ibe, 19, also of Morning Sun Subdivision.

Investigations disclosed that the suspects held-up Ibe while they were all on board a passenger jeepney from Angeles City.

Ibe told police that upon reaching Party Place in Barangay Dolores, Lopez announced the hold-up, grabbed the victim’s cellular phone and alighted from the jeepney towards an unknown direction with his cohort.

Shortly after the incident, the victim and other passengers sought the assistance of SPO1 Jesus Torres and PO1 Vidal Lingat, both members of the Community Police Assistance Center 2 who were then on mobile patrol in the area.

The two police officers immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation, resulting in the arrest of the suspects in front of the Jomafer Supermarket in Barangay San Agustin, this city.

The cellular phone of the victim was recovered from Lopez’s possession.

The suspects are now detained at the Compac 2 detention cell, as appropriate charges are being readied for filing against them.

A bail of P100,000 each has been granted to the suspects.
