Dalit Ning Balen 2: An art exhibit for a cause

November 30, 2010

THE Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) Angeles City Chapter and Ystilo Kapampangan are now exhibiting the best works of their member-artists at SM City Clark in an effort to generate awareness and concern in the ongoing works to help the Sagip Sapang Balen Creek project.

Art patrons Josie Henson and Claude Tayag formally opened the exhibit at the mall’s event center last week and will last until the first week of December. The project is part of the effort to popularize the growing concern for the rehabilitation of the Sapang Balen Creek.

Artist Andy Ramos said their group is hoping to be able to inform the public on the need to save Angeles City’s most enduring landmark. He said saving Sapang Balen is both a responsibility of the local community and artists who draw inspiration from the river.

The Sapang Balen project was initially started by the Sto. Rosario Parish. Different groups also expressed support for the rehabilitation project along with the City Government of Angeles City. A clean-up drive was started last year to clean the banks of the river which was littered with garbage.

The group is hoping to generate enough awareness and support for the rehabilitation of the Sapang Balen.
