Fake grocery products flood metro markets

A WELL-ENTRENCHED fake product syndicate operating in Metro Manila and Central Luzon is still victimizing shoppers in public and private markets.
A former employee of a trading company based in Pampanga told People’s Tonight that the syndicate sells fake or imitated grocery items such as coffee, food flavorings, infant wear, candies, wine, liquor, cologne, Marlboro cigarettes and other items.
The employee is now being hunted by the syndicate headed by a certain “Enry” or “Andie” after he failed to remit their collection after delivering fake products in Central Luzon including La Union, Pangasinan and Baguio City.
“Maxie” (not his real name) told People’s Tonight that the syndicate uses a legitimate trading business based in Pampanga as front where imported wines, liquors, chocolates, soaps, cigarettes and other imported items are sold.
The syndicate also conducts its own parallel deliveries of fake items using some of the service delivery vans of the company owned and operated by Chinese businessmen.
It was gathered that the selling price of the syndicate is much lower than those of the original products.
The syndicate’s operation is to get the fake products somewhere in Divisoria in Manila and deliver the contraband somewhere in Guagua and Bacolor.
The syndicate uses the legitimate sales agents and drivers of the said trading company to avoid suspicion or checkpoints along the route.
It was gathered that the fake grocery and other products came from China and Taiwan and delivered to some warehouses in Caloocan, Navotas and Divisoria.
