Guv: Fast-track tax mapping

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia Pineda has ordered the provincial assessor’s office to complete its tax-mapping project in Pampanga by June.
Pineda made the order during the recent consultative meeting on real property tax administration and provincial tax-mapping project at the King’s Royale Hotel.
Participants to the consultative meeting were more than 500 village chiefs whom Pineda directed to provide the necessary support and assistance to assigned tax mappers.
“If needed, the provincial government will provide necessary augmentation just to make sure that the project would be completed in June,” Pineda added.
Target priority areas in the completion of the project are the first-class municipalities of Mabalacat, Mexico, Lubao and the City of San Fernando.
Pineda has also instructed the local government units to share in the transportation expenses of the tax mappers as stipulated in the memorandum of agreement signed by the local chief executives.
The agreement requires town officials to provide assistance in the completion of the project.
According to Pineda, LGUs are the first to benefit once tax payments increase as an expected result of the tax-mapping project.
The implementation of the project is somehow hampered by the absence of cadastral maps, some boundary disputes and inadequate manpower.
At present, the project is only 60 percent complete.
Provincial Assessor Romeo Dizon said they will enlist the assistance of the Bureau of Lands to address the absence of cadastral maps, one of the factors that hinder the implementation of the project.
