Guv turns over new vehicles for police

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda led the inauguration of a new Tactical Operations Center for the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) on Monday and turned over 21 motorcycle patrol units for municipal stations in the province.
The governor, accompanied by Central Luzon Police Director Allan Purisima and Pampanga Provincial Director Edgardo Tinio, said the new Tactical Operations Center is equipped with surveillance monitors of different thoroughfares in the province.
The new facility, she said, will be utilized in the many planning and tactical operations of the PPPO in terms of crime prevention, monitoring and traffic control.
Meanwhile, the new motorcycles form part of the Provincial Government’s plan to provide the necessary vehicles for police patrol and response operations.
The new vehicles, according to Tinio, will be deployed in various municipal police offices of Pampanga.
“These motorcycles run faster that the average so our policemen can respond immediately to calls of their constituents,” Pineda said. “We also plan to set up patrol vehicles for the barangays so that they could patrol their communities to keep the peace.”
Pineda also urged the PPPO to intensify its crime monitoring strategies and thwart criminal elements.
Aside from the motorcycles, Pineda assured policemen of gasoline supply by partnering with a gasoline station in each town to provide for police patrol vehicles.
Purisima said Pineda’s support would mean no excuse for the provincial police not to perform their duties.
“The Provincial Government has done its part. Now, the police force just needs to do their job in bringing crime situations under control and give the public a feeling of safety,” Purisima said.
Pineda also said she also plans of providing patrol motorcycles to the 505 villages of Pampanga.
“Probably, before my term ends, the Provincial Government will be able to provide patrol vehicles to all the villages of the province,” Pineda said.
She also distributed cellphones to chiefs of police for them to use in receiving information among civilian informants.
Tinio, for his part, said the donations of the Provincial Government have given them more reasons to intensify their anti-criminality efforts.
Third district Board Member Monina Laus assisted Pineda in the inauguration of the new Women and Children’s Center that will serve as the focal office for addressing concerns of women and children. The said facility will coordinate all cases in relation to women and children’s rights.
