Wednesday, December 8, 2010
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DMMH) in Pampanga has received a “healthy hospital” award from the Department of Health in Central Luzon on Tuesday.
The award was accepted by Pampanga Health Officer and DMMH Administrator Eddie Ponio during the Regional Partners Recognition Day hosted by the regional DOH office at Robinson’s Starmills.
Ponio said the award was based on compliance with different DOH standards like sanitation.
Even before Pineda was elected governor, she has already assisted various hospitals in the province in terms of improving their facilities and services.
She has also helped many Kapampangan patients. Moreover, health care is one of the Pineda administration’s thrusts.
Among the DOH requirements that the provincial hospital has complied with were cleanliness of hospital facilities and their functionality.
Aside from a plaque of recognition, the DMHH also received P20,000 worth of medicines.
Ponio said the award will inspire them more to improve their services.
Aside from Ponio, Porac Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz also received an award for one of his villages.
“One of our barangays, Barangay Balubad, has received a cleanliness award and we are here to accept it,” Dela Cruz said.
Dela Cruz said the village recognition has inspired its neighbor villages to comply with DOH cleanliness standards as well.
Dr. Benito Arca, assistant regional director of the DOH in Central Luzon, said the recognition is a yearly activity of the agency to inspire other institutions to pursue health initiatives.
“The awardees will now be our partner advocates for health,” Arca said. (Charlene Cayabyab)
