Job Fair held in Olongapo for Women’s Month Celebration

City of Olongapo – In celebration of Women’s Month, the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) of Olongapo recently partnered with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 3 in holding a job fair held at the Rizal Triangle Covered Court in the City of Olongapo.

This year, the month-long celebration’s theme billed “Weathering Climate Change: Governance and Accountability, Everyone’s Responsibility” soothingly fits the mandates of the DOLE is empowering the Filipino workforce land sustainable and decent jobs.

In a report by DOLE Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante to Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, twenty-three (23) participating local employers and eleven (11) overseas recruiting gencies were brought together by the PESO to offer employment opportunities to the job seekers both local and abroad.

Efren Reyes, head of the DOLE Zambales field Office reported to the Regional Office that four hundred ninety eight (498) registered applicants of which three hundred twenty two (322) were qualified and are already waiting for final interview. Three (3) lucky applicants on the other hand were able to land immediate jobs with SM Supermarket and were hired on the spot for the positions of Bagger and Sales Clerk.

All participating companies’ job vacancies were posted at the phil-jobnet and were accredited by the DOLE, Reyes added.

PESO Olongapo provided mobile resume to help jobseekers submit pertinent documents required by prospective employers.

Meanwhile, there were also free haircuts, massages, birth certificate registration and gawang gapo given to all Olongapeños.

“I shall remain constant in bridging the gap between job opportunities for my fellow Olongapeños. We will continue to network with the national government agencies such as the DOLE and local companies to help our people especially women and mothers find better job opportunities right here in our city,” said Mayor James Gordon, Jr.
