Thursday, December 9, 2010

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) has been conducting a series of Career and Employment Advocacy seminars for some 2,636 third-year high school students in the province.

Rima Hernandez of the Dole-Pampanga field office said the seminars were conducted in coordination with the different Public Employment Service Offices (Pesos) of the province and partner agencies like the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and Commission on Higher Education (Ched).

“The past month has been a busy one for Dole because of its programs and services on career and employment paths centered for the youth,” Hernandez said.

According to Hernandez, the Dole provincial field office has provided orientations on career guidance and various programs the students can avail when they finish high school.

Hernandez said representatives from Ched presented an overview of the assessment of priority courses for the next five years, while Tesda representatives presented livelihood courses.

She said that of the 2,636 mentioned student attendees, 343 were from the Sindalan High School; 1,164 from Pampanga High School; 799 from Lubao National High School, San Roque National High School, Sta. Cruz National High School, and San Pablo National High School; 330 students from the West Integrated School, Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Integrated School and St. Vincent of Quebiawan Integrated School.

“With new jobs created from new industries that are now existing in the region, our youth should properly be informed and updated on new courses addressing the needed manpower of new industries,” Hernandez ended. (Ria de Fiesta)
