Lawmaker pledges completion of covered courts

MEXICO — Representative Aurelio Gonzales over the weekend promised residents of this town that he will facilitate the completion of all village covered courts here and in the whole third district by the end of his term.
Gonzales, addressing people of Barangay Balas here during a village meeting, said it is his dream to construct covered courts here for the use of village residents for social and sporting activities.
“Currently, there are 112 covered courts that we have started building since my first term and even during the time when I was still board member of the province. I am dedicating resources to finish all other covered courts in this town by 2012 to 2013,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said his team has recently completed two covered courts just this month and would be finalizing three others before the end of April. Gonzales said these impact projects are vital in promoting social activity and sports in the barangay level.
“With a perfect venue to hold their social gatherings and activities, barangay officials can host whole-year projects that would keep the youth away from drugs and help the people through development activities, like livelihood programs that they can hold within the comforts of these covered courts,” Gonzales said, stressing that social activities are important also in creating a more wholesome and vibrant community.
Gonzales said that upon completion of all covered courts for different villages here, he would be focusing more impact projects for schools and construction of new and better facilities for barangay officials and civic organizations.
