League to hold workshop on countryside development

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBLMLP)-Central Luzon is set to conduct a seminar-workshop on February 22 to 24 at the Imperial Hotel in Quezon City.
Board Member Tarcicio Halili, chairperson of PBLMLP, said the event, dubbed as “Co-Financing Countryside Development,” is part of the group’s current programs and projects on its building alliances and linkages with government, private organizations and other funding agencies.
“The event will give board members the needed information and foresight by which to craft ordinances that are in support of business development, investment and funding,” Halili said, stressing that board members should also be responsive to the needs of their communities for business development.
The event will also give light to the intricacies of government-aided funding both from local and international sources.
Halili said board members should be open to ideas of business development and the trends happening in other countries around the world.
Representatives from United States Agency for International Development (USAid), Australian Government’s overseas aid program, and the Netherlands will be main speakers in the said activity.
The topics aim to give board members an understanding of the challenges in public accountability and transparency at the local government level as well as facilities in fighting graft and corruption.
Topics include “Forging Cooperation for Public Finance,” “Accessing Credit Support for Infrastructure,” and “Exploring Collaboration on Local Governance on Human Rights.”
Halili is urging board members in the region to participate in the upcoming activity.
