Mayor abroad for talks
November 29, 2010
ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan flew to London two days ago to talk to a Kapampangan group based there about how the Philippines fared during the economic recession.
Pamintuan said he seemed to have impressed the London-based Aguman Kapampangan when he made a presentation of the infrastructure projects of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo there last year.
“I was invited by the Aguman Kapampangan after my presentation to be their honored guest and speaker on their regular annual meeting and say a piece on how we were able to make a rebound in the Philippines,” Pamintuan said.
According to Pamintuan, the group has also expressed their willingness to send assistance to the development of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (formerly Ospital ning Angeles).
After his meeting in London, Pamintuan will proceed to the Netherlands, along with Councilor Maricel Morales, to represent the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) to an international anti-trafficking forum there.
“I’ll be proceeding to the Netherlands to represent the LCP,” Pamintuan said.
In the city, Pamintuan has already created a task force that gave the go signal to the local police to curb human trafficking.
Pamintuan is expected to return here on December 6. Charlene Cayabyab)
