Mayor extends gratitude to Jaycees

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan lauded the success of all volunteers who made Sagip Pampanga, the relief operations for the flood stricken towns in Pampanga.
Noted for their sterling contributions and consistent support are the members of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) of Angeles City “Culiat” or more commonly known as Jaycees.
“We thank and, at the same time, laud the efforts of the Jaycees for always providing their expertise, volunteers, resources and time to make such noble and worthy projects successful,” Pamintuan said.
“The Jaycees were there all the way — from the “Lingap King Balen, Saup Kareng Kabalen” PEP TV three-day telethon to the distribution of goods – a testament of their willingness to serve,” the mayor added.
Angeles City recently distributed around 4,000 packs of relief items – canned goods, noodles, clothes and bottled waters – to residents of typhoon-affected San Simon town which remains inundated.
This is not the first time that Pamintuan and the Jaycees partnered for this kind of endeavor.
In 2006, Oplan Sagip Bicol was initiated to raise funds and donations to help the victims of typhoon Reming, which caused major destructions to lives and properties, mainly in the Bicol region.
The same undertaking was conducted in 2009, during the aftermath of typhoon Ondoy where relief operation was conducted in Cainta, Rizal.
Pamintuan said this is how the people of Angeles would like to pay back the people who extended their assistance during the dark hours of Angeles City after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption and the rampages of lahar.
The Angeles City Jaycees is a network of young active citizens aimed to provide development opportunities that empower and move the youth in order to inspire positive change.
Headed by their president, Catherine Magtoto-So, their officers are: Neki Liwanag, Kitty Pangilinan, Michael Pecson, Denise Sigua, Paulita Gomez, Louchezzi Tancungco, Kristian Tancungco, Jose Mari Castro and Renato Quiambao.
