Motorists commend efforts to improve traffic situation

STA. ANA — Several motorists traversing a national road in this town along the corner of the public plaza commended local officials for the improvement of the traffic situation here, particularly during rush hours.
The motorists attributed this development on the traffic contingency plan implemented by the Municipal Government, with the help of the local police and traffic enforcers.
“Maganda po ang ginawa nila na ipagbawal ang pagparada sa gilid ng daan lalo yung sa tabi ng palengke. Nakabuti din yung paglalagay nila ng lubid sa kahabaan ng plaza kung saan nalimitahan din ang pagtawid ng tao kung saan-saan lang. Kumpara sa dati mas okay ngayon,” Pepe Lacsina, a motorist who first complained about the previous traffic problem here, said.
It was learned that drivers of public utility vehicles are asked to use an alternate route from 9 a.m. until the afternoon to ease traffic congestion.
“Nung una ay nagagalit kami kasi may mga pasahero kaming hindi nakukuha. Umiikot pa kami dito sa Barangay San Joaquin. Nasanay kasi sila na nag-aabang sa harap ng simbahan. Pero sa tingin namin ay nakatulong ito,” Lacsina added.
The Municipal Government, in its continuing efforts to solve the traffic problem, has prevented all ambulant vendors from occupying the other side of the public market fronting the Catholic Church.
Instead, the concerned vendors were asked to occupy the newly constructed public market through the joint efforts of the Municipal Government and third district Representative Aurelio Gonzales.
Earlier, motorists said that heavy traffic is usually experienced here during rush hours.
“Sana magtuloy-tuloy ang ganito para gumanda naman ang pasada namin sa gitna ng mataas ng presyo ng langis,” another motorist here said.
