P193T cash remains unclaimed

ANGELES CITY – No one has yet claimed the P193,000 cash money found in an office table at City Hall.

Juliet Quinsaat, city treasurer, said no one has approached her office to claim the lump sum since it was found.

The lump sum placed inside a brown envelope tied with a rubber band was found on November 15 as City Hall employees were checking tables, chairs, and every corner of the building.

It was a group of maintenance workers who found the P193,111.19 inside a table previously issued to the administration office of former Mayor Francis Nepomuceno.

The cash was in three P50,000 bundles and one P40,000 bundle, all in P500-bill denominations. It was immediately turned over to the City Treasurer’s Office.

On November 20, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan set a deadline of two weeks for the legitimate owner of the money to claim it.

If no one claims the money, Pamintuan said it will be used to buy dialyzers and dialysis filters for dialysis machines at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (formerly Ospital ning Angeles).

Pamintuan earlier dismissed allegations that the money was planted by his people to cause damage to the previous administration.

“Where will we get such big money just to stage a show?” Pamintuan said in an earlier interview. “We were even surprised when we found them.” (Charlene Cayabyab)

Getting to the Clark Wine Center wine shop from Manila is quite simple:  after entering Clark Freeport from Dau and Angeles City, proceed straight along the main highway M A Roxas. Clark Wine Center is the stand-along white building on the right, at the corner A Bonifacio Ave.  From the Clark International Airport DMIA, ask the taxi to drive towards the entrance of Clark going to Angeles City.  From Mimosa, just proceed towards the exit of Clark and this wine shop is on the opposite side of the main road M A Roxas.
