Palawan as new exit point of illegal recruiters

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philippines – Illegal recruiters transferred their operations to Palawan province, including island municipalities making them as exit points to Sabah, Malaysia.
The National Bureau of Investigation said the recruiters transferred their operation here and its nearby municipalities in order to elude the intensive operation against illegal recruiters.
According to NBI Regional Director Manuel Almendares Jr., these recruiters came after government law enforcement agencies began strict monitoring of their activities in Zamboanga area.
Authorities have already intercepted hundreds of victims of illegal recruitment and human trafficking here.
But Almendares assyred that although these illegal recruiters and human trafficking are now operating outside Zamboanga City, the NBI regional office is keeping a close watch on them.
“We are now strengthening and intensifying our intelligence gathering of information of the possible re-entry of these illegal recruiters and human trafficking operations,” he said.
