Pamintuan vows to support cultural projects

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan vowed to support the programs of the newly appointed Board of Trustees of the Kuliat Foundation Incorporated (KFI) toward cultural awareness and heritage commemoration.
Pamintuan swore in the new board of trustees for the KFI recently at the Museo ning Angeles. Members of the new KFI Board of Trustees are Anette Tinio (president), Architect Leandro Naguiat (vice-president), Fernan Panlilio (secretary), and Aristides Garbes (treasurer).
In his speech, the mayor challenged the new KFI officers to bring back the tradition and culture of the Angeleños.
One of the traditions the mayor cited is the Las Flores de Angeles, which will be held on May 19. The activity will commemorate the religious tradition of Angeles by offering flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The city will also observe Independence Day on June 12 under the national limelight this year, as the Old Pamintuan Mansion was chosen to be an official site for the said celebration by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
The City Government, together with the KFI, will lead the city in re-enacting the symbolic waving of the Philippine National Flag by General Emilio Aguinaldo, then President of the First Philippine Republic.
The 20th commemoration of the eruption of Mount Pinatubo will also take place this year. The celebration in June will signify the Angeleños’s courage and patience to rise after a disastrous calamity, said Pamintuan.
