Pampanga police intensify efforts vs criminal elements

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, March 31 – The Pampanga police office has strengthened its efforts to address all forms of criminality in the province.
Despite the inadequate number of manpower to handle police operations on a daily basis, police chief Senior Superintendent Edgardo Tinio on Thursday said they intensified their efforts to counter the changing modus operandi of criminal elements.
At present, Tinio said Pampanga has an actual ratio of one policeman for every 2,000 population.
“Although we are inadequate in terms of the number of police personnel, we are trying all-out efforts to curb lawless elements in the province,” he said.
The ideal police ratio to population is 1:500.
Tinio said that they have heightened their intelligence networks in various villages in the province with about 742 barangay intelligence networks already established.
The police chief also cited the active participation of the provincial government in the continuing effort to address crimes in the province.
He said the provincial government has donated to the Pampanga police office 38 motorcycles, 25 units of which have side cars; 36 helmets and 28 units of cellular phones.
Tinio likewise disclosed that the provincial government has provided a P500,000 fund for the expansion of the Provincial Tactical Operations Center. This, according to him, contributed to the success of the campaign against criminality.
From February 1 to present, he said, the police arrested 73 wanted persons. Ten persons involved in carnapping syndicates were also nabbed with the subsequent recovery of seven motor vehicles and five motorcycles. (PNA)
