Work on old road now under way

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Work is now under way at the old 14-kilometer Bacolor-Porac road, which is being revived for the exclusive use of trucks hauling sand from quarry sites in the second district.

Board Member Nestor Tolentino said work started last November. He is hoping that the road would be passable by January next year.

The road, Tolentino said, runs parallel to the east and west lateral dikes, and stretches from the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo road up to the circumferential road in Angeles City.

He added that the project has been approved by Governor Lilia Pineda, with a development budget of P25 million.

Tolentino pointed that the current work is cheaper compared to the construction of an access road, which he said would cost around P200 million.

“Actually, we’re just waiting for the go-signal para ma-open na ito at madaanan na ng mga sasakyan, kahit rough road pa lang (We’re just waiting for the go-signal so the road can be opened and used by vehicles, even though it’s still just a rough road),” Tolentino said.

“We are hopeful that the governor would announce the opening of the road by January,” he added. (Ria de Fiesta)

Getting to the Clark Wine Center wine shop from Manila is quite simple:  after entering Clark Freeport from Dau and Angeles City, proceed straight along the main highway M A Roxas. Clark Wine Center is the stand-along white building on the right, at the corner A Bonifacio Ave.  From the Clark International Airport DMIA, ask the taxi to drive towards the entrance of Clark going to Angeles City.  From Mimosa, just proceed towards the exit of Clark and this wine shop is on the opposite side of the main road M A Roxas.
