‘Apung Mamacalulu’ book launched

ANGELES CITY — The book “Apung Mamacalulu: The Santo Entierro of Angeles City” was launched last Thursday at the Holy Rosary Parish here.
The book documents the history and phenomenal devotion of the Kapampangans to Apung Mamacalulu, dubbed by other people as the local Nazareno of Quiapo.
The book launch was made a day before the annual celebration of the Feast of Apu, celebrated on the last Friday of October, which falls on October 28, this year.
A project of Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, the parish priest of Angeles City, with the lead writer and researcher Nina Tomen, the book also gives various accounts and stories of the people whose devotion to Apu has given them strength in their adversities and deepened their spirituality in life.
The book launch started with a eucharistic celebration by Most Rev. Sofronio A. Bancud, S.S.S, D.D, Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cabanatuan. This was followed by a short program with the participation of the different organizations in the parish.
An ideal Christmas gift that we can give especially to our loved ones is this Apu book. It will be available at the launch venue and later at the Holy Rosary Parish bookstore and at the Center for Kapampangan Studies, Holy Angel University.
