All systems go for Skills Registry System
March 16, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Labor office in Central Luzon, in collaboration with the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (Peso), will launch Tuesday the Skills Registry System (SRS) for Pampanga.
Some 505 newly-placed Pampanga Barangay Peso Coordinators from the targeted barangays, as well as different Peso personnel from all over the province tasked to handle the said program, will be present to attend an orientation to be facilitated by the Dole and Pampanga Provincial Peso.
The launching will be held at the Max’s Restaurant here in the city.
Governor Lilia G. Pineda and Dole-Central Luzon Director Leopoldo B. De Jesus, along with Rima Hernandez (head, Dole-Pampanga Field Office), and Luningning Vergara (provincial Peso manager) will be present to administer the oath-taking of the said Pampanga Barangay Peso Coordinators.
President Benigno S. Aquino III led the nationwide launching of the said program during the 10th National Peso Congress held at Tagaytay City sometime in October last year.
The SRS is a national database registry system that will link the country’s active labor supply, including information on the qualifications and skills of registrants and current manpower demands, both locally and abroad.
The SRS will be linked with the database of other related agencies such as the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Bureau of Investigation, and Clark Development Corporation, among others, to reduce job search searching/hunting period, process and cost for jobseekers from all over the country.
“Addressing jobs mismatch is one of the priority concerns of President Benigno Aquino as mandated by his administration’s 22-point agenda on labor and employment,” said De Jesus.
He added that with the SRS, Pampangueño jobseekers, regardless of educational attainment, will have an easier access to employment opportunities both local and abroad.
