Angeles dialysis center fully operational

ANGELES CITY — The Renal Care Unit at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (formerly Ospital Ning Angeles) was formally opened Saturday to serve the needs of those who need dialysis treatment.
Located at the Luminda A. Ong Building, the center is now fully operational with 15 dialysis machines and complete sets of medical equipment. It is manned by three nephrologists, a head nurse, eight staff nurse and four technicians.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, who once dreamed of having the center put up in the municipality, thanked businessmen and fellow Kapampangans abroad, including World Medical Relief Incorporated President George Samson, for helping him realize his dream.
“I thought, why should we not put up a dialysis center in our city where we can offer affordable dialysis treatment,” Pamintuan said, after meeting
Jerry Tinio, 71, has long been battling against kidney illness.
Tinio, for many years, has undergone dialysis treatment to survive. His family spends around P5,000 to P7,000 per week for the dialysis treatment alone.
Pamintuan said the newly built renal center will offer affordable dialysis treatment and kidney care services to indigent patients like Tinio.
“Health remains to be a thrust of our administration, so this renal care unit is built for the survival of our Kabalens suffering from kidney problems,” said the mayor, whose younger brother survived a kidney transplant.
