CLARK FREEPORT — In his first visit to Pampanga after the elections, President Benigno Aquino III has led the ground-breaking ceremonies of a world-class tertiary hospital complex here on Tuesday.
Aquino, also the guest of honor and speaker, headed the ground-breaking rites of The Medical City (TMC) Clark to be established at the Global Gateway Logistics City (GGLC).
The TMC is a 43-year-old tertiary health care organization that seeks to establish a world-class health care complex. Its network is currently composed of two hospitals and 18 outpatient clinics located across Metro Manila and in some provinces.
TMC will be the first locator at the Logistics City.
“The establishment of the medical city will allow people in Pampanga and other people from Central Luzon easier access to the excellent medical care which TMC is known for,” Aquino said in his message.
Meanwhile, GGLC is a state-of-the-art master plan that mixes the use of logistics and a business center in this Freeport.
The TMC Clark will be a 150-bed hospital with a 1,500 medical staff to be complemented by a 2,700-member workforce.
The hospital is expected to be fully operational by 2013.
Margaret Bengzon, head of the TMC’s Strategic Services Group, said the hospital in Clark is part of their expansion projects.
“TMC Clark will serve as our flagship center for Central and Northern Luzon. In addition, being situated in an international airport, the Clark location provides an excellent platform for building our international customer base,” Bengzon said.
During the visit to this Freeport, Palace officials met with 11 top-performing Clark investors and locators at the Molave Hall of Holiday Inn Clark.
CDC president Benigno Ricafort said Cabinet officials will meet with Clark locators in a bid to spruce up the economic viabilities of the Freeport as one of the country’s major investment destinations. (Charlene Cayabyab/Rey G. Navales)
