Arayat mayor supports guv’s pro-poor programs

ARAYAT – Mayor Luis Espino reiterated his support to the pro-poor programs of Governor Lilia Pineda.
Espino made the announcement during Friday’s medical and dental mission in Barangay San Mateo here, where some 2,000 indigent constituents availed of free medicines, check-up and dental services.
“Our administration together with the Sanggunian Bayan and Liga ng mga Barangays is 101 percent supportive of the plans and programs of our beloved governor. We see to it that most, if not all, her projects are centered in helping the poor and indigent members of our community,” Espino said.
Espino said the local government unit has started a series of medical and dental missions in the town’s 30 barangays to bring medical services closer to the people, which is also one of the priorities of the provincial government.
“We have allocated some P4 million for the purchase of various medicines,” Espino said.
He also lauded Governor Pineda for her efforts in the rehabilitation of district hospitals in the province, as well as providing much-needed medical equipment to better serve patients.
“The way I see it, Nanay is on the right track. In order to be productive, you have to be healthy. That’s why she is going all over the province to cure the sick and extend alms to the needy. She is truly the mother of Pampanga and we love and support her for that,” Espino said.
The mayor also said the governor is planning to start the rehabilitation of the Arayat District hospital and provide medical equipment like dialysis, EG, X-ray machines among others to further improve the conditions of district hospitals all over the province.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Trinidad and Liga ng mga Barangay president Julio Espino said they are also fully supportive of the administrations of Espino and Pineda in terms of basic health care services to the people.
Last January 28, the LGU kicked-off its series of medical missions in Barangay La Paz Turu, one of the remote villages located near the foot of Mt. Arayat. Some 1,000 indigent individuals benefitted from the said whole-day treatment.
Aside from this, thousands of PhilHealth cards were distributed to indigent persons by the local government, office of Rep. Dong Gonzales and the Provincial Government.
