Big hog farms have permits – mayor

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Porac Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz said most of the big piggeries and poultry farms in his town have sanitation permits issued by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
Dela Cruz said he cannot easily order the closure of all of the hog farms since some of them are complying with the law.
“These hog farms have complete documents to prove that they can operate. Their papers are issued by the EMB,” Dela Cruz said in vernacular.
Dela Cruz, however, confirmed that their municipal business licensing office did not issue permits to hog farms following the order of Governor Lilia Pineda.
The non-issuance of permits to hog farms there stemmed from the long time protests of residents of the foul smell emanating from these farms.
However, some of the hog farms continue to operate despite the lack of business permit.
