Bloggers slam Internet providers

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

CANDABA – A local bloggers’ association here on Tuesday slammed Internet service providers for poor Internet connection over the past few days.

According to Ryan Aga, the association’s president, the poor Internet connection has affected their online transactions.

“This a clear violation of the terms and conditions committed by the Internet service providers. The subscribers deserve an efficient Internet connection because they pay the exact amount as stated in the contract,” he stressed.

Aga said they had so much unfinished work because of the low-quality service of providers like Smart Bro, as well as Globe Broadband. “Isipin mo na lang, ultimong simpleng application usad pagong bago magbukas. Hindi ba dapat ibigay nila ang tamang serbisyo dahil nagbabayad tayo sa kanila ng sapat? (Just imagine, even the simplest applications takes forever to open. Shouldn’t they be providing the proper service since we’re paying them right?)”

Aga said that most of the bloggers in their association are subscribers of Smart Bro and Globe Broadband, some of whom are even saying that the poor Internet connection has put them in trouble in so far as online transactions were concerned.

“Nalugi kami sa mga araw na may problema sa connections dahil hindi nga kami nakakapag trabaho. Yung mga kausap namin pati ng mga nagtratrabaho namin ay hindi rin sila kumita (We lost money on the days when there were problems with connection since we could not work. Those who work with us also didn’t make any money),” Joshua Lipana, a blogger here, lamented.

Lipana pointed out that they are not asking so much from the Internet service providers.

“We just want them to do their obligations. We pay in exchange of services. Our relationship with the internet provider is based on contract. It is their obligation to give us efficient internet connection,” he said.

Meanwhile, Leny Manalo, Mayor Jerry Pelayo’s chief of Staff, joined the complaining bloggers here in their complaint against the poor Internet services. He is also disappointed with the way these providers are handling the matter.

“Ang dami na talagang nagrereklamo. Kami dito sa munisipyo hindi nakakatrabaho ng mabuti dahil hindi kami maka-connect sa Internet. Nade-delay ang ilang transactions namin dahil dito (So many people have been complaining. We at the municipal hall can’t do our jobs because we don’t have access to the Internet. Some of our transactions are delayed because of this),” Manalo claimed. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
