DAGUPAN CITY – Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas on Thursday told parishioners of the St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral to visit patients and prisoners aside from churches on Good Friday.
Villegas said that members of the Roman Catholic community usually visit seven churches to commemorate the traditional seven Stations of the Cross.
He, however, urged parishioners to also visit 14 patients at the Region 1 Medical Center or prisoners at the municipal, city or provincial jails.
“Visit 14 patients and extend some help. We don’t only see Jesus in stations of the cross found in churches. We also see Jesus in the lives of others around us.” Villegas said.
“Visit prisoners and bring the message of the Divine Mercy because love and prayers are two important things these days,” he added.
Villegas also urged the Catholic faithfuls to ponder on the seven last words of Jesus and to include priests in their prayers.
The archbishop officiated a mass Thursday at the St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral where all Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese priests were present.
Meanwhile, the first Pabasa sa Plaza has ended and for its success, the organizers thanked all the participants, including the Cursillistas Choir, Yahweh’s Choir, S.E and Charismatic Choir, Good Shepherds Choir, Marriage Encounter Choir, St. John’s Angelicum Choir, Marian’s Choir, Nazarene’s Choir, St. Stephen Choir, Tambuli ng Pangnoon Choir, and Cristo for Christians Choir, among others.
