Clark hosts 1st North Luzon Franchising confab, exhibit

CLARK FREEPORT — The Freeport has served as venue of the recently concluded 1st North Luzon Franchising Conference and Exhibit at the Holiday Inn Clark.
The event, which was held last April 13, was spearheaded by the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCII), in cooperation with the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc.
The trade activity featured at least 28 franchise companies during the conference exhibit.
MACCII president Frankie Villanueva Jr. said the conference was highlighted by exhibits and seminars from experts in the franchising industry led by Paulo Tibig and Butch Bartolome, among others.
Tibig and Bartolome, along with 10 other franchisees, encouraged participants to put up their own franchising businesses.
Tibig, who tackled topics on franchising essentials, said the success rate of entrepreneurs in the scheme was pegged at 90 percent. He said putting up a new business has a 90% chance of failing.
Bartolome, who discussed “Is your business ready for franchise,” for his part said owning a franchise saves the franchisee from the rigors of paperwork involved in putting up one’s own business.
He added a franchise already follows a tested system which prevents the franchisee from falling into various financial traps, trial and error system, and longer return of investments.
Franchise owners and franchisees also delivered testimonials and success stories of their respective businesses.
Franchisors present during the event were Sweet Corner president Bong Magpayo, Lot’s A Pizza president Teresita Ngan Tian, Fiorgelato president Ricardo Cuna, Ahead Tutorial and Reviews president Rosanna Llenado, and JAP OK president Carl Quema.
Franchisees who led the panel discussion are Jess Nicdao, Jollibee; Geralyn Pabustan, Sweet Corner; Jay Ramos, Julie’s Bakeshop-Pampanga; Love Reyes, Aquabest; and Evelyn Salve, Lot’s A Pizza.
The companies that participated in the exhibit are Julie’s Bakeshop, Solerex, Minute Burger, World of Wellness, Tin Hao Dimsum, Generika Drugstore, Zenzest Asia, Seaoil Philippines, Big Apple Express Spa, Cosmotech Philippines, Laybare Waxing Salon, Ahead Tutorial and Reviews, Fiorgelato, and GMB Franchise Developers.
Others are Binalot, Focus Ventures, Sweet Corner, JM Peanut World, RBX (Rice in a Box), Japok, Chicco di Caffe, Lot’s a Pizza, Mr. Softy Ice Cream, Happy Haus Donut, Platowraps, Chichariffic, Acqua Suisse, and Aquabest.
