Cops probe ‘break-in’ at customs office

CAMP OLIVAS – Police are now investigating an alleged “attempted robbery” incident at the Bureau of Customs Fort in Clark.

According to Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, Angeles City police director, unidentified suspects forcibly entered the Customs office last Sunday dawn but took nothing.

Nothing seems to be missing, Bautista said.

The suspects gained entry by destroying the firm’s roof and then descending to its conference room.

Bautista said the suspects destroyed the locks of the collection division and cashier’s offices.

The break-in was discovered by one Roque Canete, 24, utility worker.

He reported his discovery to the Customs police Monday morning.

Police who conducted investigations found atop the conference room table a steel ladder, black rubber shoes and a black long-sleeved polo.

According to Captain Cecilia Bondoc, District Commander of the Bureau of Customs-Clark, the safety vault placed inside the cashier’s office was found intact.

Bautista has ordered a police team to conduct a thorough investigation on the said robbery. (Ric Sapnu)
