Cops rescue 70 more dogs in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines – Police have arrested a man for transporting at least 70 dogs that were about to be sold to markets in northern provinces.

Chief Inspector Romeo Castro of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office said that the suspect, Rolando Maravillas, has been previously arrested for the same crime.

Castro said Maravillas was caught driving a white van with a built-in cage, filled with at least 70 dogs, while driving along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in Pampanga province.

Mel Alipio of the Network For Animals said that the dogs were tied up and their mouths were gagged when rescued.

Alipio said that the white van was also the same vehicle that Maravillas was driving when he was caught last November 17 along NLEx.

He said that according to Maravillas, he released after posting a P7,000 bail.

Castro said that Maravillas’ 2 companions were able to escape during the operation.

He said that the trio bought the dogs from Batangas province at P500 each and were about to bring the animals to Pangasinan.

Maravillas will be charged with another case for violation of the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007. – Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News

Getting to the Clark Wine Center wine shop from Manila is quite simple:  after entering Clark Freeport from Dau and Angeles City, proceed straight along the main highway M A Roxas. Clark Wine Center is the stand-along white building on the right, at the corner A Bonifacio Ave.  From the Clark International Airport DMIA, ask the taxi to drive towards the entrance of Clark going to Angeles City.  From Mimosa, just proceed towards the exit of Clark and this wine shop is on the opposite side of the main road M A Roxas.
