Fil-Ams welcome Remollo, cites Ricafort

SILICON VALLEY, California — Filipino and American investors here welcomed the appointment of new Clark Development Corporation (CDC) executives, noting the accomplishments of the government-run corporation in the past two years.
Demos Punsalan, senior partner at Sequoia Strategic Partners, a management consulting and trade representation company in Silicon Valley, said the appointment of lawyer Felipe Antonio Remollo is a welcome development as “it brings new and fresh perspectives and impetus on the continuing development inside Clark.”
“We look forward to strengthening our ties and partnership with CDC under Attorney Remollo as we note of his desire for Clark to be more aggressive in pursuing investors,” Punsalan said.
The Kapampangan native based in this high-tech county has cited newspaper reports where the new president plans to aggressively pursue investment projects in the Philippines and abroad.
Punsalan has led investment missions to Clark in previous years and has referred investors here to the Clark Freeport. As the co-founder of California Technological Care, he has also led Corporate Social Responsibility projects for Clark communities, particularly the distribution of refurbished computers for Aetas in Kalangitan, Capas.
He also acknowledged the achievements of Benigno Ricafort as CDC president and CEO since 2008, citing them as “unprecedented and remarkable.”
Punsalan paid a call on Ricafort in 2009 during his visit to Clark.
“Undoubtedly, Mr. Ricafort has done what no other CDC executive has achieved in his 18 years of service in Clark. The Next Frontier for one and big ticket items such as Samsung, Donggwang and others are feathers in his cap,” he added.
Another Fil-Am community and business leader in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sarah Dominado Gonzalez, executive director of Filipino Youth Coalition, said investors here are happy with the appointment of the new CDC president, noting the Remollo family’s dedication to public service.
Gonzales hails from Remollo’s hometown Dumaguete City and has known his family well. She has also visited Clark twice during the administration of former CDC CEO Gen. Romeo David with former Fil-Am Mayor Henry Manayan of City of Milpitas here.
“Given their family’s desire for unequalled government service and his background as a lawyer and a business management executive, CDC could be steered well to new heights in investments and job generation,” Gonzalez said.
