Groups inaugurate eye center for indigents

Sunday, January 2, 2011
BACOLOR — The Jesus A. Datu Medical Center (JADMC), World Medical Relief Inc. (WMRI), Kapampangan Development Foundation and its 50 partner-organizations led the inauguration of the new JADMC-WMRI Eye Center here to address the needs of indigents with eye problems.

MRI president George Samson led the inauguration of the new facility at the JADMC on New Year’s Eve. WMRI is instrumental in bringing the necessary equipment for the full operation of the facility.

KDF trustee Sylvia Ordonez said their group and the partner organizations of KDF are grateful for the help of WMRI. She said WMRI has been consistently sending medical supplies and equipment in previous medical missions in Pampanga.

“Mr. Samson is very optimistic that the facility, which forms part of JADMC, will be able to address the health needs of indigents here,” Ordonez said.

Ordonez said they are finalizing procedures with the service partners of KDF to fully operate the center.

Ordonez said the services of the center will become an integral part of the KDF services programs.

KDF is an organization of Kapampangans who live outside of the region, yearning to do their share in its social and economic development. It boasts of a continuing prosthesis program that gives artificial legs to Pampanga amputees, wheelchairs and medical-surgical missions to amputees.

The group has also at least 10 rural-based “Well Family Midwife Centers,” which were established in partnership with Well-Family Midwife Clinic Partnerships Foundation Inc., Norphil Foundation, Physicians for Peace, and Soroptomist Clubs of Pampanga. (Ian Ocampo Flora )
