Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival – Bordeaux heads up the Asian wine market with the (Nov 10, 2009)

Clark Wine Center is pleased to relay interesting news and articles about wine to you on this web site.  We hope that this will enhance your wine shopping experience when you visit this wine shop in Pampanga Clark Freeport Zone.

“Bordeaux Fête le Vin” has now spread to Asia, with the Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, which takes place from 30th October to 1st November, attracting close to 75 000 visitors, each of whom is armed with a glass and a card for 3 or 12 tastings.

The government of Hong Kong and the Bordeaux CCI have risen to the challenge of getting the festival ready in less than 12 months. This operation was organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, with some advice from CIVB and Bordeaux Grands Evénements.

In exchange for their expertise, these Bordeaux wine societies have ensured an excellent showcase for Bordeaux wines at the exhibition. “Instead of receiving payment in the form of assessment fees, the CCI of Bordeaux, the CIVB and Bordeaux Grands Evénements decided to negotiate for better presence and visibility for Bordeaux wine growers and businesses, at the very heart of the exhibition. By securing 20% of the tasting pavillions, a stall with a prime location and reduced tariffs, the Bordeaux area at the festival (with Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur, Côtes de Bordeaux, Médoc et Graves, Saint-Emilion-Pomerol-Fronsac, Blancs Secs, Union des Liquoreux, the Grand Marques, the GIE Château in China and the wine merchants Castel and Oenoalliance) has been highly successful. We needed to restock our wine several times in order to meet the demand from the public, mainly made up of young people and women”, read a statement from the CCI, the Bordeaux Tourist Office and the CIVB.

In this way, Bordeaux wine is coming out on top : Hong Kong, which has no customs taxes on wine, represents a privileged entry onto the Asian wine market, with great prospects for future development.
