CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Kapampangans and movie critics had a rare opportunity to view the Kapampangan film “Astro Mayabang” at the UP Film Institute in Quezon City Tuesday as part of the Campus Tour of the Cinema One Originals Film Festival.
The film, directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, stars Arron Villaflor, Megan Young, John Lapus, Hermes Bautista, and Marco Morales. “Astro Mayabang” is a Kapampangan feature film and one of the 7 official entries in the Cinema One Originals Independent Film Festival 2010. The film is the directorial debut of Laxamana who is more popularly known in the province as a photographer.
The said film won the Audience Choice Award and a Special Citation during the Campus Tour of the Cinema One Originals Film Festival.
Laxamana said the film’s screening at UP gives pride to Kapampangan talents and provides people with the opportunity to understand contemporary Kapampangan culture. The film is expected to be screened in major universities in the country.
