Mayor orders stricter traffic rules

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan recently ordered the strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations across the city.

Under Executive Order Number 43, Pamintuan said there is a need for strict implementation of traffic rules and schemes on major highways, roads and streets in order to ease traffic conditions in the city.

“The traffic problem in the city hinders the growth of the local economy, particularly the improvement of the business climate and development of tourism potential, so there is a need for the strict implementation of traffic rules,” Pamintuan said.

The order has decreed specific one-way streets and established parking, loading and unloading zones and pedestrian crossing lanes.

It also prescribed a six-meter distance from any street corner as no parking, no loading and no unloading of passengers and cargo zones.

“We would also want to purchase additional police motorcycles and mobile cars for traffic management usage. We would station these in critical areas like the Magalang road and the Sto. Rosario-Rizal Street road,” Pamintuan said.

The City Government also has plans of holding a traffic summit where jeepney and tricycle drivers will be oriented about existing national and local laws on traffic regulations. (Charlene Cayabyab)
