P10M Macabebe hospital finished by June

MACABEBE – The Pampanga Provincial Government wants the construction of the P10-million district hospital in this town to be finished in five months to accommodate the increasing number of patients at the Macabebe District Hospital here.

Governor Lilia Pineda said that while construction is ongoing, the hospital shall continue operations using the old building to ensure uninterrupted delivery of basic health services to residents.
The governor expressed determination to complete the facilities and services of all government hospitals in the province.

“Para ang mga kababayan natin ay di na kailangang lumayo at madaling makakuha ng maayos na kalinga mula sa ating mga pampublikong pagamutan (This is so our people don’t have to go far for medical care. Our public hospitals will take care of them,” she said.

According to Pineda, she has been told by the medical staff that hospital instruments and other facilities are old, most of them bought as early as 1982, when the said hospital was first established.

“The old ones should be made into scrap material because they are no longer serviceable, and the patients are not comfortable with them,” Pineda said.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held here recently to jumpstart the construction of the said building, which was witnessed by Board Members Ricardo Yabut and Nestor Tolentino, Mayor Annette Balgan, other local officials and hospital employees.

The upgrading and rehabilitation of the said district hospital is aimed at providing efficient and effective health services to the people of Macabebe and neighboring towns. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
