Pampanga Day celebrations kick off today
December 06, 2010
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The 439th “Aldo Ning Kapampangan” (Pampanga Day) celebrations kick off Monday with the theme “Lugud at Masabal: Puso ning Tune Kapampangan” (Love and Care: Heart of a True Kapampangan).
The celebration will be led by local officials headed by Governor Lilia Pineda and second district Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Pineda said the celebration, which will run until December 11, will be marked with love, simplicity, genuine unity and camaraderie among the public and private sectors, who want the province to progress.
“We have all the reasons to rejoice and celebrate the founding anniversary of our beloved province as we have already set the tone to strive hard as one family and to make a difference towards a healthy, fully secured and employed population enjoying the fruits of economic development,” she said.
The governor said the celebration is an opportune time to recognize distinguished cabalens who excelled in their fields of profession that benefited the province and its people through the Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards.
“I’m glad to say that this year, we have a complete list of beautiful candidates from the 20 municipalities and 2 cities of our province to vie for the title of Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2010 and I am hoping that the best will emerge as winner,” Pineda said.
She said that this is “a gesture of genuine unity among municipal and city officials who are deemed responsible in choosing beautiful, bright and talented young Kapampangan women” in their respective cities and municipalities to vie for Mutya ning Kapampangan 2010.
Monday’s celebration will start with a Holy Mass followed by the unveiling of the schedule of activities, an agro-industrial trade fair and an art exhibit. At 10 a.m., there will be simultaneous medical and dental missions at the Pampanga Provincial Jail for inmates and a job fair at the Capitol grounds.
At 3 p.m., a drum and lyre parade and exhibition will be followed by a Serenata at the Park and at 6 p.m. Provincial officials will hold the ceremonial lighting of Christmas decors and fireworks display.
On Tuesday, there will be a job fair and a Kapampangan cultural show at the Capitol grounds and a furniture show at SM City Pampanga.
On Wednesday, the “Kuwentong Kapampangan at Aliwa Pa” (Kapampangan Stories and More) will be featured at the provincial library while the Kapampangan Festival Show will be held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
On the same day at 3 p.m., the governor will lead the launching of “Negosyo King Panyulung Program,” which will provide loan assistance for livelihood projects for groups of women who want to venture into small businesses.
This will be followed by the pre-pageant and mall tour of the candidates for Mutya ning Kapampangan at SM City Pampanga.
On the morning of December 9, there will be a “Ligligang Kalutung Kapampangan,” or a cooking contest, which will be followed by the Rock Kapampangan Concert, which will begin at 6 p.m.
On December 10, “Asan at Gule Festival,” or Fish and Vegetable Festival, will be held at 6 p.m., plus the most awaited coronation night for Mutya Ning Kapampangan (MOKA) will be held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
On the night of December 11, thirteen winners for the MOKA will be recognized and honored. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
