Rotary Club Angeles to celebrate 46th year of service
April 14, 2011
ANGELES CITY – The Rotary Club of Angeles City (RI District 3790) will be celebrating on Thursday, April 14, its 46th anniversary with the theme “Building Communities, Bridging Continents”.
RC-Angeles president Ray Dizon told Sun.Star Pampanga that highlights of the event will be a citywide motorcade in the morning, followed by the distribution of 50 wheelchairs to indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs) and 55 computer sets to various public elementary and high schools in Angeles City, Mabalacat, Magalang and Bacolor.
Dizon said 80 percent of the beneficiaries are from Angeles City while 20 percent are from neighboring towns of Pampanga.
He said the purchase of computers and wheelchairs was made possible due to matching grant no. 74502 between the RC-Angeles City and the RC of Jinju-Baekhab, South Korea (Dist. 3590).
Dizon said a program will also be held at the Rib Eye function hall in Barangay Balibago here, where District Governor Digna Ragasa, Assistant Governors, Past District Governors, past club presidents, other officers and members of other clubs and districts as well as officials of RC Kota Kinabalu South, Dist. 3310; RC Pinampang, Malaysia, Dist. 3310 and RC Jinju-Baekhab, South Korea, Dist. 3590 are expected to attend.
The RC-Angeles president said the club has 40 active members to date, adding that since its charter on April 9, 1965m the club has gained numerous awards through its various humanitarian projects.
“As of now we have already exceeded our target of 15 projects for this year. As of this month, we have already launched 20-plus community projects including the distribution of computers and wheelchairs. Modesty aside we are now among the top 10 clubs in the entire district,” Dizon said.
Dizon thanked his fellow officers and members as well as their sister clubs for the realizations of their projects, saying that building communities and bridging continents is possible with Rotary.
Lastly, Dizon said the culminating activity will be a fellowship night which will be a night of dancing, singing and merrymaking for Rotarians and their spouses.
