San Fernando’s transport groups not joining strike

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Transport federations and groups in the City of San Fernando are not joining Thursday’s nationwide strike.
City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao bared this Wednesday, as he met with the federation of transport operators and drivers here regarding the strike rooted on the continuous rise of oil prices.
“We met with officials of transport groups in the city and they expressed their sentiments. Ang sabi nga nila ay ang unang mahihirapan sa strike ay iyung mga students and employees going to their offices. Apektado rin daw ang kabuhayan nila. Transport groups here are always coordinating with the city government,” Caylao told Sun.Star Pampanga.
He said everything will be normal in the city Thursday, and that contingencies have been set up.
“We have deployed police, personnel from the Traffic Management Division, Task Force Habitat and employees from city hall in strategic areas to monitor the situation. We also have vehicles from our motor pool on standby to assist commuters if they need transportation,” said Caylao.
Caylao assured that people coming from neighboring towns and Angeles City will get to their destinations.
“Of course, that would only be up to the boundaries of the city. But people coming from nearby towns are assured they will get rides today going to and from San Fernando. In extreme cases, our officials will be on hand to assist commuters. Definitely, everything will be normal today,” Caylao said.
