Sayre named best Peso manager anew

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Last year’s best Public Employment Service Office (Peso) manager Donny Sayre of this city was named most outstanding anew among public employment service offices in the component city category, national level, during the 11th Peso Congress held from October 5 to 7 this year at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City.
This year’s congress was aptly themed “Disente at Produktibong Trabaho, Peso ang Kaagapay ng Estado.”
Rodriguez was named as best mayor and the city Peso was named as most outstanding in the category besting close rivals Tagum City in Davao and Batangas City.
Sayre told Sun.Star Pampanga that it was the concerted effort of his staff and team in the Community Affairs Division (CAD) and the strong support of Rodriguez and other City Government departments that allowed them to bag the awards twice in a row.
“It was through the efforts of our CAD people, Peso staff and support of the City Government led by our world-class city Mayor Oscar Rodriguez that we got the award again in the component city category. While other cities hired consultants on packaging their programs, ours was self-developed and was done through hard work, dedication and commitment,” he said.
Sayre said that CAD started out as a small unit, then became a section and transformed into a division as they met the needs of Fernandinos and job seekers from neighboring towns in their employment requisites.
“We are just doing our work but we are very happy to serve always. It’s the Magsilbi Tamu spirit,” Sayre added.
Sayre and his Peso staff have been credited for providing thousands of jobs for the unemployed through three job fairs, skills training and manpower development.
Regional Gawad
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional information officer Miriam Gaviola said that the Regional Gawad is conferred to local government units for reason of exemplary performance in Administrative Governance, Social Governance, Economic Governance and Environmental Governance.
Moreover, Gaviola said the yearly award is also an instrument to scale up the valuing of accountability, transparency and involvement to local administration and development.
Exemplary performance information was drawn from the online Local Governance Performance Management System, Seal of Good Housekeeping, International Organization or National Government Agency-bestowed Award/s and acknowledged innovation/s, which were introduced within the last three years such as cost-cutting measures, improvements in internal administrative systems and partnerships with civil society organizations.
The winners were picked by a selection committee composed of the regional heads of DILG, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Budget and Management, Civil Service Commission and Department of Health plus the chairperson of Angeles City Kuliat Lions Club and president of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Politics.
All regional awardees across the archipelago will be honored today (October 11) during the conclusion of the three-day celebration of the 20th anniversary of local autonomy in the country.
