Philippines wine supplier Manila wine shop discusses wine by the grape variety Torrontes.
October 19, 2010
The Torrontes grape is cultivated in the Argentine provinces of Catamarca, La Rioja, Mendoza, Salta, San Juan and Rio Negro. The Torrontes wine made from this white grape is considered the best of its kind in the entire world.
The bunches of grapes on the Torrontes vine are medium sized although in some regions they may be larger.
The grapes are round, medium sized, usually of a yellowish green colour, sometimes more golden. The leaves of the vine are dark green and pentagon-shaped.
The green of the vines with their golden and yellow fruits are a wonderful sight against the breathtaking background of the mountainous regions where the Torrontes vines are cultivated. The wines made from the Torrontes grape have been, for many years, the visiting-card of the Argentine Wine Producers and have received many international awards. As it has progressed in the international market, it has become the emblematic white wine of Argentina.
Torrontes is the most distinctive of all Argentine wines, including both white and red, because Argentina is the only country to produce it. It is considered a wholly Argentine variety.
