Truck driver charged with qualified theft

MABALACAT — A truck driver was charged by the town police with qualified theft before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor on Monday for allegedly carting away P6,000 intended for his travel allowance and other expenses.
The local police identified the arrested driver as Armando Quilbio Manubay, 42, of De Vera Compound, Barangay Lias, Marilao town, Bulacan.
Supt. Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said Manubay on Sunday left his workplace at a quarry site in Barangay Dolores here and ran away with the cash.
Manubay’s employer, Ramil Sumera, 32, of Nueva Ecija, on Monday filed a formal complaint before the Mabalacat police station against the suspect, Mendoza said.
A team of police officers led by Chief Insp. Kenneth Vega coordinated with the Bulacan police and arrested Manubay at his residence on Monday.
Manubay earlier committed a similar offense after failing to remit his remaining travel allowance amounting to P1,800 to his boss, it was learned.
The suspect is now detained at the Mabalacat police station, Mendoza said. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
